Bakuba Kuba Handwoven Tribal Raffia Art Textile from Congo /20.5 by 108 inches

This beautiful handwoven Kuba Cloth made by the African Kuba tribe in the Kasai region, Democratic Republic of Congo.

These Kuba cloths are beautiful pieces of African art. They look great displayed as wall hangings but are a very interesting African

textile fabric for the advanced craftsperson wanting to create tribal pieces for home décor such as table runners, on the edge of a

bed, framed wall art, cushion covers or draped over furniture

Size: 274cm X 52cm /20.5 X108 inches

The cloth is made from fiber from the raffia palm (Raphia Vinifera).

It normally takes about one day to make two or three lengths of cloth depending on the skill of the craftsman.

New, unused cloth is used as money for (labolla) bride price, ceremonial payments and as tributes to the Chief.

What's good about this cloth is you can cut each pattern  strip and make 5 cushions from it, or use as runner and make 2 cushions.

Please note these natural fiber hand-made items are never straight and there can be colour variation from one side to the other.
