Carving of African Woman Carrying Baby & Water Calabash/Gourd

The carving is made from Ebony wood

Approximately 1kg in weight and 45cm in height.

It showcases an African woman, carrying a baby on her back and calabash on her head.

The carving is a perfect representation of the rural lifestyle in Kenya: A young lady, going about her chores (fetching water that's she's carrying in her calabash and balancing on her head) while taking care of her toddler who's wrapped on her back with a kikoi/leso/khanga.  While one hand is holding on to the calabash for balance, the other is holding on to the baby on her back.

She has short hair (for easier maintenance) and adorned in jewelry on her ears, neck, arms and legs.  She's also barefooted which's common among village women.

The carving is 100% handmade in Kenya by Kamba artists.
