The African kikoi is the most prominent fabric in East Africa.
Why?
Well...
Made of 100% cotton, this 100 by 160cm long fabric with twisted tassels on the ends is soft, lightweight, beautiful and very friendly to the skin. The kid-size kikoi measures approximately 65 by 120cm in size.
Kikoi, or kikoy, originate from the Swahili culture who reside within the Coastal regions like Mombasa, Lamu, Diani and Malindi.
Due to the versatility of the African kikoi and it's absorbent nature, the Swahili people (both men and women) use it as a wrap especially on the very hot days.
There are loads of ways how you can make use of a kikoi. You can use it as a scarf, swimwear coverup, a sarong, baby carrier, head wrap, a towel, home décor or making clothes and bags.

And here's Meghan Markle, Prince Harry and Maddona rocking kikoi.
